Immersed in one of the most evocative corners of Tuscany, the Maremma, the Terme di Saturnia Spa and Golf Resort is surrounded by hot waterfalls, light steam, Etruscan necropolises, Roman villas and medieval castles.
According to legend, Saturn, enraged by the constant wars between human beings, hurled a lightning bolt to earth which caused a deep crack in the ground, out of which sulphuric waters began to leak. Steam enveloped everything and calmed the human souls.
Whether or not the legend is true, today the spa complex is an oasis of peace and relaxation, immersed in nature. Water gushes from the rock at a flow rate of 800 litres per second and a constant temperature of 37 degrees centigrade. From a scientific point of view, the water from Saturnia is characterised by the presence of two dissolved gases, hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide, which make it particularly effective for treating skin, respiratory and muscoloskeletal disorders.
The centre around the spa has been well organised, to satisfy even the most demanding clients. It has been designed to create a sense of well-being throughout: the elegant hotel has been built fully respecting the natural environment surrounding it; you can admire works by contemporary artists in the Gallery in the pool complex; for outdoor sport lovers, there’s a prestigious 18 hole, par 72 golf course, designed by the architect, Ronald Fream.
In brief, an experience to delight all of your senses.
